Designplan Lighting based in Sutton West London have been trading for 50 years and employ over 130 people. They are a manufacturer of high quality, energy efficient lighting for target area of transport, social housing, custodial, secure healthcare and urban environmental.
Bisley’s Workshop range of industrial tool cabinets and cupboards were sourced by Designplan Lighting for its brand new 7000sq/m manufacturing facility. They required a robust and hardwearing storage solution that looked modern to complement their brand new factory. Organised tool and component storage was an essential element to the products they were sourcing as well as a hardwearing construction and finish for the industrial environment they were being placed in.
Among the vast range of Bisley ToolStor products, Designplan Lighting specified products that combined traditional cupboard storage and tool storage, as well as mobile tool cabinets for ease of use around the factory. Their decision to choose Bisley was based on the company’s 75 year commitment to high quality steel storage.
“There are cheaper products on the market, but they are not as good quality, they don’t necessarily cover the size of product that we would want to store and it looks good.” – Rob Aldred – Production Engineering Manager – Designplan Lighting.
Designplan Lighting’s chosen mini workshop cupboards and mobile cabinets will be used in the tool room and maintenance areas. Future expansion and organised storage will allow them to develop into areas, including a paint plant and manufacturing storage spares. When looking at various industrial products, Designplan Lighting wanted a industrial product that worked hard but with the aesthetics of a high quality designed product. As such Bisley proven design and asthetics in office furniture meant the ToolStor range of workshop storage met both their criteria.
“The key features are the robust build quality, excellent locking mechanism and a modern clean finish, the aluminium extruded handle is an excellent detail to the units, I think that the all round fit and finish is first class, with real attention to the detail as to the final use of the product will be. It was discussed many times in the past, and I think with the skills, experience and machinery that Bisley currently possess it will be a fantastic addition to their product range!”
